Remote Destop

Postby stecenko » Tue Mar 08, 2016 6:33 pm

Hi All,

My client just upgraded their server. The users use Remote Desktop to access my VFP/VPME application.

Quite consistently now, when the run the application a Window opens up.

The title of the window is 'DO' and it's a regular file open type window.

The user moves to a control called 'Do Program File' and Changes 'Files of Type' to all files. Then, my application appears. The user then clicks on it and my app opens just fine.

Is any one using remote desktop? Is this a normal?

Hi Richard,

some of my customers use Remote Desktop. No, it is not normal that a window is opening to start a programme.

I suspect a problem in the configuration.

Hi Richard:
Loosely related to the topic...
I just order and will be installing a Win Server 2012 alongside an existing Win Server 2008 that I installed in 2011
WinServ 2008 has been working great. HAve you found any issues with Server 2012 and VFP 9 ?

I've had a few problems. I don't think it's the Server 2008 or Server 2012. All the users run my application are using Remote Desktop. And seems to be the problem.

The network people are saying that because VFP is no longer supported, there is nothing they can do.

Hi Richard,

Don't know if this is of any help but I found this in the UT:
Hi Jeremy:

When assigning a letter this way to a share, then you are using SAMBA (SMB), so if client PCs (Win7 or newer) connect to the server using this external mapping, then you are affected by the same problems that affects all SMB3 sharings.

I've read something about Win2K12 disconnecting automatically shares at certain amount of minutes (don't know the default number), but this can be disabled.
Look at this articles I've found, and there is no need to disable SMB (you shouldn't do that!):
