Build Graphical Buttons

Postby JessicaLawson » Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:21 pm

For some extremely well done logic to create graphical buttons, (gel, glass,
3d, bordered, etc...) see the following website.

http://cooltext.com/Buttons

Easily create the "up" button and the "down" button and save to your "pics"
folder in your VPME application.

Also, good logo creater on the parent page.

I use this site all of the time (Gel buttons for custom parent form
classes - very cool...).

Can't beat the price!

The Gel style is done very well. Looks like you would have to generate a
'mousedown' button separately.

In ImageReady, you can base a family of buttons on a custom (reusable) style
and choose a background that is image-based rather than plain.

Of course, the enormous flexibility comes with the $700 price tag of
Photoshop <g>...

Well, they call it 'mouse over' and when you select one of those options,
the engine generates 'two' buttons that can be downloaded...

I use the mouse over as the down button. It's all good :)

ImageReady can generate 6 rollover states... not sure why I would need all
six, but I suspect it's there because someone uses them....
Normal, plus the rollover states Over, Down, Click, Up, Out and Selected.
Then there's the 'custom' state ???

Of coure the real advantage is the ability to build buttons on whatever
background you wish, including an image, and to be able to save the and
reuse the button style, including rollover state changes, ie buttons that
appear to really go down. Then it's easy to apply the style to multiple
buttons, autogenerate the button image slices, export to the VPM project
folder, etc...
